Stephen Strasburg is ready — and so is the Washington Nationals' ticket office. The Nationals said after Monday's 14-4 win over Houston that their prized pitching prospect will make his major league debut against Pittsburgh on June 8 at Nationals Park. The 21-year-old right-hander is first scheduled to start for Triple-A Syracuse at Buffalo on Thursday.

"He's the best catcher on this team, I'm telling you," Torrealba said. With the San Diego Padres these days, that's hard to tell.

Nick Hundley and Mat Latos form quite the battery for the San Diego Padres. Hundley hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Latos won his fourth straight decision as the San Diego Padres beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 on Saturday night. Hundley, who has been splitting time at catcher with Yorvit Torrealba, accounted for all four Padres runs.

Outfielder Justin Maxwell has been optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse by the Washington Nationals. The Nationals announced the move after Friday night's 5-3 victory at the San Diego Padres. Maxwell is hitting .121, with four hits in 33 at-bats over 21 games with Washington this season.

Washington Nationals slugger Adam Dunn was denied a home run Thursday against San Francisco after umpires used instant replay to uphold their original ruling. Dunn, who earlier homered in the first inning, appeared to hit his second off Giants starter Barry Zito with one out in the seventh.
