R.A. Dickey had another strong start for the New York Mets. Once again, he didn’t end up with the outcome he wanted. Dickey allowed six hits in six innings, including a three-run home run by Jayson Werth in the first, and the Washington Nationals beat the Mets 3-0 Saturday night. It was the 17th time in 22 starts Dickey (5-9) has gone at least six innings.

Jayson Werth hit a three-run home run, and Yunesky Maya, filling in for traded starter Jason Marquis, earned his first career win for the Washington Nationals in a 3-0 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday night. Maya (1-1) allowed five hits in 5 1-3 scoreless innings after being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse when Marquis was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks shortly before the game.

Jose Reyes drove in two runs, and the New York Mets made Chien-Ming Wang’s return to the big leagues a short one with a 8-5 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday night. Ronny Paulino finished with three hits, and David Wright and Jason Bay each had two as the Mets scored four times in the first inning en route to their fifth straight win.

Jayson Werth went 2-for-4 in the Nationals’ loss to the Marlins, driving in both of their runs with singles. He raised his average to .219 for the season. “I still need to get there,” Werth said. “I’m tired of saying I’m close, that’s for sure.”

The Nationals showed real improvement. It wasn’t nearly enough. Despite having baserunners in every inning but the eighth, and getting seven hits and seven walks, the Washington Nationals were held harmless by the Florida Marlins in a 5-2 loss Thursday. “It was just kind of a strange day. We had opportunities, a couple mishaps,” Nationals Manager Davey Johnson said.
