Free-agent reliever Brad Lidge has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals. Last season, the right-hander only threw 19 1-3 innings for the Philadelphia Phillies, going 0-2 with a 1.40 ERA and one save. He didn’t pitch until late July because of elbow and shoulder problems in his right arm.

Free agent closer Brad Lidge signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Washington Nationals. Lidge, 35, appeared in 25 games in 2011 because of a right rotator cuff injury, but posted a 1.40 ERA. The Phillies didn’t offer him arbitration.
