The Washington Nationals have placed right-hander Luis Atilano on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 21, because of bone chips in his pitching elbow. Nationals senior vice-president and general manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement Friday night before the Nationals opened a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
