The San Diego Padres scored three runs off the Washington Nationals bullpen in the eighth inning on Thursday as they beat the Nationals by the score of 5-2. The Nationals were going for the series win but instead dropped two of three games to the Padres.
Saul Rivera gave up two runs as he pitched in relief of starting pitcher John Lannan. Rivera took the loss and is now 3-3 on the season while Lannan got the no decision. Charlie Manning recorded the final two outs but still was charged with one earned run in the game.
Elijah Dukes had a sacrafice fly in the fourth inning that scored the Nationals first run of the game and then pitch hitter Ryan Langerhans singled in Dukes in the seventh inning for the Nationals second and final run of the game.
The Nationals will now travel to Arizona to take the Diamondbacks on in a three game weekend series. This series spells trouble for the Nationals if you ask me.

The Washington Nationals powered past the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night by the score of 6-4. The Nationals hit a grand slam, solo home run, and sacrafice fly to score their six runs as they even up the three game series one game each.
Jesus Flores got the scoring started in the fourth inning when he hit a grand slam off of Shawn Estes. Flores led the Nationals with the four rbi in the game. Lastings Milledge hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and then Aaron Boone had a sacrafice fly in the seventh inning to finish the Nationals scoring.
Odalis Perez pitched 6 1/3 innings while picking up his second victory of the season. Perez gave up six hits and three runs to improve his record to 2-4. Brian Sanches came in after Perez left the game and gave up two hits and a run without even record an out. Luis Ayala got out of that mess and pitched the next inning as well without giving up a run before turning things over to Jon Rauch who recorded his 11th save of the season.
The Nationals will try to win the series as the two teams face off again on Thursday afternoon.

The Washington Nationals pitched a great game on Monday night but the offense was no where to be found as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Nationals by the score of 1-0. The Nationals are now 20-27 on the season after the loss.
Jon Rauch took the loss for the Nationals as he gave up the run in the ninth inning. Rauch is now 2-1 on the season after losing the game tonight. Starting pitcher Jason Bergmann pitched seven innings and only allowed five hits as he got a no decision. Saul Rivera pitched a scoreless eighth inning as well.
The Nationals offense only had five hits in the game but did get a little rally going in the ninth inning. Elijah Dukes walked and then stole second and third base, but was stranded at third base to end the game when Felipe Lopez grounded out to second base.
The Nationals keep on struggling and I’m not sure when things will turn around to be honest. Nationals Blog

In a fast paced game, the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 1-0. Now that is what I call a pitching duel. Jason Bergmann and Mike Pelfrey both pitched great, but the Nationals were able to get a run in the eighth inning to get the 1-0 win.
Bergmann pitched seven innings to pick up the win. Bergmann now has a 1-1 record on the season. Luis Ayala and Jon Rauch pitched the eighth and ninth innings for the Nationals. Rauch picked up his ninth save of the season as he stranded a Mets runner on third base to end the game.
The lone run that came in the eighth inning for the Nationals came on a sacrafice fly by Felipe Lopez. Jesus Flores scored on the sac fly.

The Washington Nationals got doubled up by the New York Mets by the score of 6-3 on Tuesday night as the two teams battled in New York City. I’m suprised the Nationals were able to score three runs in the game as they were only able to come up with four hits the entire game.
Ryan Zimmerman had a two run home run in the third inning to lead the Nationals with two rbi. Rob Mackowiak had a rbi ground out to second base in the seventh inning.
John Lannan was the losing pitcher as he pitched six inning and gave up twelve hits and six runs. Lannan got hit hard and also gave up one home run. Ryan Church took Lannan deep in the third inning. Lannan is now 3-4 on the season.
Luis Ayala gave up two more runs as he pitched 1 1/3 innings. Joel Hanrahan was finally able to get the Nationals out of the inning by getting the last two out in the eighth inning.
The Nationals will try to get back on track tomorrow when they face off against the Braves once again. Nationals Blog

The Washington Nationals beat up on the New York Mets on Monday night by the score of 10-4. The Nationals scored in every inning except for three as they kept pressure on the Mets pitchers the entire night.
Odalis Perez threw 6 1/3 innings to pick up his first win and improve his record to 1-3 on the season. Perez did allow eleven hits and four runs including two home runs but this time he got some run support on the mound.
Chris Schroder and Saul Rivera both tossed 1 1/3 innings in the game as they pitched in relief and they did not give up a run.
Lastings Milledge, Jesus Flores, Perez all had two rbi each in the game. Felipe Perez, Nick Johnson, and Rob Mackowiak had one rbi each in the game. Now that is what I call production up and down the lineup. You gotta love seeing that kind of production from that many players.

Jesus Colome gave up the game winning single to the Houston Astros as the Astros beat the Washington Nationals 4-3 on Wedneday night. Colome came into the game after Joel Hanrahan only recorded one out in the inning. Hanrahan ended up taking the loss for the Nationals as his record dropped to 0-2 on the season.
Odaliz Perez tossed five innings for the Nationals to get a no decision. Perez allowed five hits and three runs.
Ryan Zimmerman had all three RBI for the Nationals as he hit a two run home run and then a solo home run in the game. Without Zimmerman, the Nationals more the likely would have been shutout int he game.
