The Washington Nationals lost their first game of the season as they fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 8-7 in 10 innings on Thursday. It was a bases loaded walk that gave the Phillies the victory. The Nationals were going for the three game sweep but instead will settle on a 3-1 record to begin the season. I think they will gladly take that!
It would have been nice to see the Nationals hold on for the victory after they jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, but the Phillies just kept battling back and eventually winning the ball game. I think the Nationals will learn from the game, and next time they are up 5-0 early in a ballgame, they will hold on and get the victory.
The Nationals will now play the St. Louis Cardinals who just took two of three games against the Colorado Rockies.
